Touchdown Time: The Importance of Early Voting This Election Season
Like Football, Winning Elections Requires Scoring Points—Start by Voting Early
I think I'm back from my hiatus!
My wife and I recently moved, which meant four weeks of packing, moving, and unpacking (still unpacking)—so many boxes! This transition kept me from my regular Playbook posts, but I'm excited to be back and dive into all things political again.
We also did a quick trip to North Carolina during that time frame. My brothers and I took my dad to see the Tennessee Volunteers play the N.C. State Wolfpack at Bank of America Stadium on September 6.
I had a great time with my dad and brothers, and Tennessee won!
Election Season is Upon Us
Like football season, election season is here and will last several weeks.
Yes, you read that right: election season.
With early voting already underway in Virginia and many other states, it's no longer just about Election Day. We have a 45-day stretch leading up to November 5th where every single day counts.
A pivotal part of winning the game is how well we can organize our supporters and keep putting up points—or in this case, votes—between now and Election Day.
Political Professionals: Now Is the Time
As political professionals, we need to use every play in our playbook. Getting our supporters to the polls early should be a top priority. Early voting isn't just an option; it's a winning strategy that allows campaigns to lock in votes before Election Day, giving us more control over the outcome.
Party Activists: Take the Field Now
If you're an activist, it's your job to vote early and make sure your friends, family, and neighbors do the same. Don't wait until the last minute to cast your ballot, and let's stop complaining about the system. If we want to change the system, we have to win back the power to do so. Whether we like it or not, early voting is the new playing field—so let's own it and get our team to the polls!
Five Reasons Why You Should Vote Early
Life Happens:
You never know what unexpected events might occur between now and Election Day. Emergencies, sudden travel, or family obligations can disrupt even the best-laid plans. Don't leave your vote up to chance—cast it early, lock in your support for the Republican ticket, and avoid any last-minute hurdles. It's Convenient:
Early voting is easy and flexible. Whether by mail or in person, you can cast your vote on your own schedule.Free Up Campaign Resources:
Once you vote early, campaigns can remove you from their outreach efforts and focus on undecided voters who still need to be persuaded. This helps Republican campaigns save valuable time and resources as they work to secure every possible vote.Volunteer on Election Day:
By voting early, you free yourself up to help on Election Day. Whether it's working the polls, supporting volunteers, or driving fellow Republicans to the voting stations, your assistance could be crucial in turning the tide in close races.Build Momentum:
Early voting helps build enthusiasm and momentum for the Republican Party. When your friends and neighbors see you voting early, it encourages them to do the same. Early wins set the tone for a strong finish—and just like in football, momentum can change the game.
